As I mentioned in a previous tip, fall is a transitional period for the bass and they will begin to move back toward the shallows. However, this can make them hard to find because they can be at any depth at any given period of time. One technique that I like to use to find them is to work a major drop off with a jig or a drop shot, all the while keeping track of the depth you are working. Once you get one or two bites in the same depth, then you will know that this is the target depth for the day. You can then narrow down your target areas and key in on structure at that certain depth. This will not only help to save you time on the water, but will also help to put you onto some more bass.
