When fishing fallen trees (laydowns), you can get an idea of how tall that laydown extends by looking at your surroundings. Most of the time, the fallen tree will be the same size as the trees around it, so by looking at the size of the trees around the laydown, you can get a pretty good idea of how far that laydown extends. This will allow you to properly position your boat, so you don’t spook the fish and will allow you to better fish the laydown.
