Tip of the Week 25

Many people shy away from grass beds because they are afraid of getting hung up, but grass and weed beds are actually prime places for big bass to hide. Now there are tons of different baits that you can throw in grass, but one of my favorites is the lipless crankbait. With the lipless crankbait you are going to want to cast it into the weed beds and reel it fast enough, so that it stays just above the weeds. While you are retrieving, you will most likely get caught up in some weeds. When this happens you should rip it free with a quick jerk of the rod. You will actually get the majority of your bites after this ripping action because when you rip it free it creates a quick rattle, which attracts lots of bites from bass.
