Fishing a new lake can be a daunting task for anyone, but one thing that has helped me over the years is to try to find things that remind you of your home lake. Everyone has a home lake and certain spots that produce bass for them, maybe it is a sunken forest or even a long extended point, but chances are there are certain areas you like to fish. When fishing a new lake try to find things that look similar to these areas, so if you fish vegetation on your home lake, try to find vegetation to fish on this new lake. While this may not always work, it is a great way to get started on a new lake and will often give you the confidence you need to figure the lake out and get started hooking into some bass.
