Although topwater baits can be effective throughout the day, I’ve found that they really excel during the early mornings and the late evenings. I believe that this is true because the wind is usually the calmest during these times, which allows the bass to better see, feel, and hear your topwater lure. Along with this, I’ve found that small baitfish are most active during this time and often jump in the mornings and evenings, so your topwater lure better imitates this action during those times.
