After missing a bite most people immediately reel their lure back to the boat and try to cast back to the same spot. While this may work some of the times, the best way to handle a missed bite is to pause for a second and then continue to fish your lure like you had been before the bite. This is due to the fact that bass often bump their food to stun it before actually going in to eat it, so when you feel something bump your lure and you miss the hookset it is always a good idea to continue fishing your lure like you were before the bite because there is a good chance that the bass was just trying to stun your bait before coming back and eating it.
