For those daring enough to brave the elements at this time of the year, I highly suggest that you let your motor idle for a few minutes before taking off. With freezing temperatures many components of your engine can freeze up and will break or fail to work if you immediately try to use them. By allowing your motor to idle for a few minutes, it will allow your engine to warm up and will greatly decrease the risk of anything going wrong while out on the water.
