When drop shotting, it is extremely important for the hook to be in the right position and be hanging straight out. When your fishing line is in the water the line will be taught, so in order to see what your hook will look like in the water, just pull both ends of the line tight. You can then adjust accordingly and ensure that your hook will be in the right position when you are fishing it.
