I got out on the water at about 6:30 a.m. and started by fishing the point by the boat launch on the south end. I tried a Lucky Craft Gun fish and a Zara Spook, both of which were in Ghost Chartreuse color. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get any bites on that, so after about 15 minutes I decided to move over to Vasa Park and try my luck on the docks around there. I didn’t have any success on the docks, so I moved over to the buoys by Vasa Park and on my first cast to the right side of the second buoy I was able to snag a nice 2lb smallmouth bass. After that we continued to make our way down the docks to the left (West Side). Along those docks I was able to catch 3 more bass on those docks, but all of them were around 1lb. At around 10:00 a.m. I made my way down to the North end of the lake and although the pilings looked promising I wasn’t able to catch any bass their. At around 11:30 a.m. I started working my way around some of the docks on the North end and was able to catch another 1 pounder. I continued working my way along some of the docks and was able to catch a nice 2lb bass near one of the docks. I finished up the day by catching another 1lb bass near the dock and headed in around 2:00 p.m.
Observations: The bass were hanging around near the docks that extended out to 13-17 feet and were found in water that was 69-72 degrees. They seemed to be very fond of the green pumpkin with black flake color and most of them hugging tight to structure.
