After a disappointing outing a few days ago on Lake Washington, I decided to head back to my favorite lake, Lake Sammamish. I got out there around 6:00 p.m. and noticed that the water was really choppy and that the wind was really picking up. With this said, I decided to head to a small cove that was tucked away (located on the left side of the lake, next to the sunken forest). It was noticeably calmer inside the cove, it was shady, and there were docks in there, which was an added bonus. I made a few casts around those docks and on my 5th cast I casted in between a moored boat and the dock. As soon as it hit the bottom, a bass just hammered the worm (I was using the Dream Shot at this time). I set the hook and was able to bring in a good sized bass. After putting it on my new digital Rapala Scale it measured 1.60 pounds, which is a decent smallmouth on Lake Sammamish. I tried around there without much success, so I headed over to the Vasa Park docks. I went straight to my favorite dock and on my first cast was able to land a 0.50 pound smallmouth. I tried the rest of the docks and pilings without success and by that time it was already 9:00 p.m., so I decided to head over to the other side, where I haven’t fished in a while. At this time, I had run out of my favorite dream shot worms and had to switch over to the new baby bass Roboworms that I had just bought. On my very first cast, I was able to land another 0.50 pound smallmouth. A few casts later I felt a small tug, so I set the hook and was able to land a 1.27 pound bass. On the very next dock, I landed another 1.52 pound smallmouth bass. I wanted to keep fishing, but it was getting really dark and I needed to get out before they closed the boat launch, so I was forced to return.

Observations: The water was about 77-80 degrees, so it has really risen in the past few days. I caught my bass today from  12-18 feet with the bigger bass coming in at the deeper depths. Once again, they were hugging very close to the docks, so I would recommend looking for docks that extend out to the depths mentioned.
